Mystic Beach Sunset
$135.00 – $480.00Mystic Beach Sunset
$135.00 – $480.00Mystic Beach is a popular hike to see the waterfall and enjoy the scenic views. The trail is actually part of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail so is fairly well maintained. On the walk to the beach you descend numerous stairs, but the hike is worth it. Taking photos of sunsets means hiking out in the dark wilderness!

Precarious Balance
$85.00 – $205.00Precarious Balance
$85.00 – $205.00This collaged monoprint was inspired by many plein air sessions on the Nanaimo River. I love watching birds and am impressed by people who balance stones along the shore. It occurred to me that the stones could be a metaphor for human relationship to nature. It is clear that this beautiful and necessary balance is becoming more and more precarious. I hope this piece inspires others to consider their balance with nature.

$85.00 – $595.00The shape of this thickly padded rock near the edge of a cliff at Mt. Wells Regional Park made me think of an ice cream cone. The forests here are often messy in their natural state, so it’s nice when you can rest your eye on a simple shape.

Divine Composition
$85.00 – $595.00Divine Composition
$85.00 – $595.00Being an artist means composing, designing or creating visual poetry but never replicating or transcribing. Leave that to the camera. Whistler was criticized in his day for saying that he rearranged his compositions because nature never got it right. BUT – this place, Little Qualicum Falls is perfect. There is nothing I could do to improve or enhance the scene. Magic!

Schooner Cove, Tofino
$20.00 – $595.00Schooner Cove, Tofino
$20.00 – $595.00Schooner Cove Beach in Pacific Rim National Park is a magnificent site for artists. It has what I call “lots of architecture”, rocky shores and headlands overhung with Cedar and Hemlock and also craggy outcrops that spring from the golden sands and become islands at high tide. It’s easy to get to along the Schooner Cove Trail.

Paradise Meadows Boardwalk
$85.00 – $205.00Paradise Meadows Boardwalk
$85.00 – $205.00“Paradise Meadows Boardwalk” was inspired by a trip to Mount Washington in the spring. It is a mountain ski village where a boardwalk has been built over the fragile vegetation in an area aptly named Paradise Meadows. The easy walk along the boardwalk is serene and relaxing as it meanders over the colorful flowers and passes peaceful ponds. It is also the gateway to the many hiking trails available in Strathcona Park.
