  • Mason Jar 51 with Indian Paintbrush

Mason Jar 51 with Indian Paintbrush

A work from my Mason Jar series. This series began as a family history project and then moved into food and environmental security. Also called the common red paintbrush, this type grows on the land farmed/ranched by my grandparents. It is more usually found in mountainous areas, like the San Juan Ridge Ecological Reserve, a rare sub-alpine meadow that is part of the epic Kludahk Trail.

Mason Jar 27 with Miner’s Lettuce

    $85.00

Miner’s lettuce is one of the early spring vegetables that miner’s ate when they first came to the West Coast. This image is part of my Mason Jar Series in which I explored family history, which quickly moved into food security and now has also moved into environmental security. This lettuce grows in wet places in parks and ditches all over the island. These leaves were harvested in Central Saanich.
