    The Passage

Chrome Island has one of the last staffed light houses on the west coast. Established in 1891, it was built at a time when the Olympia oyster beds (the only native oyster) in this area were thriving, providing sustenance to the Indigenous peoples and commercial fisheries. You can easily paddle out to Chrome Island to tour of the lighthouse and see the Indigenous art carved in the rock. Keep your eye open for Orca pods! That’s Denman Island in the background.
