From the Mean Streets of Fernwood

Based on the area where the artist keeps his studio, Victoria’s Fernwood neighbourhood is alive with character houses, towering trees, and of course its resident crows. The central house in the painting is loosely based on a similar Queen Anne style house at the corner of Fernwood Road and Pembroke Street, while the crows themselves have been in the community as long as anyone. As the city of Victoria expands and modernizes in the background, the neighbourhood of Fernwood continues to be as vibrant and colourful as ever.

Cory rekindled his love of art by taking up acrylic painting 4 years ago as a weekend hobby, and now works full time out his studio in Victoria. Cory specializes in cityscapes and urban art, in particular creating movement and life by using exaggerated perspectives, bold colours, and frequent cameos from neighbourhood animals.
