Rocky Point

Down below the Chinese Cemetary at Harling Point lies a stony outcrop which juts out into the ocean. Full of summer dried yellow grassy hollows, this is a place humming with insects and small birds. A wild a beautiful place to sit on a warm summer afternoon. Sketchbook in hand and a box of chalk pastels, I sat in a rocky hollow to draw the scene. The air was heavy with heat and insect buzzing back and forth among the grasses. Happy with the resulting image, this painting was created. The gold lines indicate the buzzing insects and the ocean beyond is full, deep and blue in the summer sun.
