Sidney Spit

A group of outdoor painters take the walk on ferry to Sidney Island and the spit to paint for the afternoon. This one is a view looking north east. The Sidney Spit Marine Park,is a sandy, narrow strip of land that stretches into the sea. The spit’s tidal flats and salt marshes are often overflowing with shorebirds during the bird migrations of spring and fall.

I have continued to make art in various forms of printmaking and painting since graduating from art school in Nelson B.C. in 1976.  Art was never de-railed completely when I worked for many years in the commercial photographic and graphic supply and equipment business and I became more focused on painting about 25 years ago.  Now living on Vancouver Island in Central Saanich I am able to concentrate on landscape in oils. There is an endless supply of  local beaches and forests to work with that keep me inspired. I hope my visual translations will connect to viewers and the natural world we all share.
